Washington PDMP Requirements for Veterinarians (WAC 246-470-035):

What You Must Report:

  • All Schedule II-V controlled substances

  • ONLY when dispensed for MORE than a 14-day supply

  • Dispensing events only (not prescriptions sent to pharmacies)

  • All drugs identified by the Board of Pharmacy under WAC 246-470-020

Reporting Timeline:

  • Minimum: Quarterly submission required

  • Recommended: Submit as frequently as possible for data relevance

  • Method: Online submission through PMP AWARxE

Key Distinction: Unlike pharmacies (which report daily/weekly), veterinarians have less stringent requirements with quarterly reporting acceptable.

Data Fields Required:

  • Patient information (pet and owner)

  • Drug dispensed and quantity

  • Date of dispensing

  • Days supply

  • Prescriber information

How PawScripts Helps:

  • Automatic tracking of reportable prescriptions

  • Quarterly report generation in PDMP format

  • Compliance dashboard showing reporting status

  • Export ready for direct upload to PMP AWARxE
